Introduction

MycoHub ("we," "our," or "the App") is a privacy-first mobile application designed for mushroom cultivation tracking. We believe that your cultivation data is yours and yours alone. This Privacy Policy explains how MycoHub handles your data with transparency and respect for your privacy.

Core Principle: MycoHub operates on a local-first architecture. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export or back it up.

1. Data Collection

1.1 What We DON'T Collect

  • No Personal Identification: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information (PII).
  • No Account Information: MycoHub does not require account creation or login credentials.
  • No Behavioral Data: We do not track how you use the app, which features you access, or your cultivation patterns.
  • No Location Data: MycoHub does not collect, store, or transmit your location information.
  • No Device Fingerprinting: We do not use any form of device fingerprinting or tracking technologies.
  • No Analytics: We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, or any third-party analytics services.
  • No Advertising Trackers: Even in the free version (which displays ads), we do not use ad tracking cookies or beacons.

1.2 What We DO Collect (Minimal)

  • Local App Data Only: All data is stored locally on your device using your device's internal storage (AsyncStorage on iOS/Android).
  • Cultivation Data: Your batch records, strain information, notes, photos, and cultivation logs are stored exclusively on your device.
  • App Settings: Your preferences (temperature units, enabled techniques, etc.) are stored locally.

2. Data Storage & Architecture

2.1 Local-First Architecture

MycoHub is built on a local-first architecture:

  • No Cloud Servers: We do not have backend servers that store your data.
  • No Database Sync: Your data is never synchronized to any cloud database.
  • No Third-Party Storage: We do not use Firebase, AWS, Google Cloud, or any third-party data storage services.
  • 100% Offline: MycoHub functions completely without an internet connection. All features work offline.

2.2 Data Location

Your data is stored in the app's private storage directory on your device:

  • iOS: NSUserDefaults / AsyncStorage sandbox
  • Android: app-specific internal storage

This data is only accessible by the MycoHub app and cannot be accessed by other apps on your device.

3. Data Backup & Export

3.1 Optional Backup (Pro & Farm Tiers)

MycoHub offers optional encrypted backup functionality for Pro and Farm subscribers:

  • User-Initiated: Backups are only created when you explicitly choose to create one.
  • Password Protected: You create your own encryption password. We do not have access to it.
  • AES Encryption: Backups are encrypted using AES encryption before being saved.
  • Your Choice of Location: You choose where to save the backup (Files app, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.).
  • No Transmission to Us: Encrypted backup files are never transmitted to our servers.

3.2 Data Export (Farm Tier)

Farm tier subscribers can export their data as CSV files:

  • Local Generation: CSV files are generated locally on your device.
  • No Cloud Processing: Data is not sent to any server for processing.
  • Your Control: You decide what to do with the exported file.

4. Payment Processing

4.1 Subscription & Purchase Handling

MycoHub uses RevenueCat for subscription management:

  • Platform Management: All payments are processed directly through Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • No Credit Card Data: We never see or store your credit card information. Payment details are handled exclusively by Apple or Google.
  • Receipt Verification: RevenueCat verifies purchase receipts directly with Apple/Google servers to unlock premium features.
  • No Payment Data Storage: We do not store, process, or have access to your payment information.

4.2 Subscription Tiers

MycoHub offers multiple subscription tiers:

  • Free: Basic features with advertisements
  • Starter: One-time lifetime purchase, ad-free
  • Pro: Monthly/yearly subscription with advanced features
  • Farm: Monthly/yearly subscription with unlimited features

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account settings.

5. Permissions

MycoHub requests certain permissions to function properly:

5.1 Camera Permission

  • Purpose: To capture photos of your batches and scan QR codes.
  • Usage: Photos are stored locally on your device. We do not access or transmit them.

5.2 Photos/Media Permission

  • Purpose: To attach photos to batch records and generate label images.
  • Usage: All photos remain in your device's local storage.

5.3 Files Permission (Backup)

  • Purpose: To save encrypted backup files and load them for restoration.
  • Usage: You control where backup files are stored. We do not access these files.

5.4 Bluetooth Permission (Printing)

  • Purpose: To connect to Bluetooth thermal printers for printing batch labels and other cultivation records.
  • Usage: The app scans for and connects to compatible Bluetooth printers only when you initiate printing. No printer data is transmitted to our servers.
  • Data Transmitted: Only print data (label content, formatting commands) is sent directly to the paired printer. No cultivation data is stored or transmitted elsewhere.
  • Your Control: Bluetooth scanning and pairing are initiated by you. The app does not automatically scan for or connect to devices.

All permissions are optional for app functionality. If you choose not to grant a permission, related features will be unavailable, but the core app will continue to function.

6. Children's Privacy

MycoHub is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete such information immediately.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

7.1 Data Retention

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over retention:

  • Indefinite Retention: Your data remains on your device until you choose to delete it or uninstall the app.
  • No Auto-Deletion: We do not automatically delete or purge your data.

7.2 Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time by:

  • Using the "Reset App" feature in Settings (clears all local data)
  • Uninstalling the MycoHub app (removes all app data from your device)

Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered unless you have created a backup file.

8. Third-Party Services

8.1 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat for subscription and purchase management:

  • Purpose: To verify purchases and manage subscription status
  • Data Shared: Only purchase receipts/tokens (managed by Apple/Google)

8.2 Ad Networks (Free Tier Only)

The Free tier of MycoHub displays advertisements:

  • AdMob: Google's advertising network for mobile apps
  • Data Collection: Google may collect device advertising ID for ad serving purposes
  • Your Control: You can eliminate ads by upgrading to Starter, Pro, or Farm tier
  • Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Important: Ad networks only receive anonymized advertising identifiers. They do not have access to your cultivation data, strains, batches, or any app content.

9. Data Security

9.1 Local Storage Security

  • Device Security: Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, biometrics, encryption)
  • Sandbox Protection: MycoHub data is isolated in the app's sandbox, inaccessible to other apps
  • No Network Transmission: Since data never leaves your device, there are no network transmission risks

9.2 Backup Encryption

  • Strong Encryption: Backups use AES encryption with your password
  • No Key Storage: We do not store your backup password or encryption keys
  • Your Responsibility: Keep your backup password secure. If lost, backup data cannot be recovered

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Posting the new policy in the app
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

Your continued use of MycoHub after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Legal Compliance

11.1 GDPR (EU Users)

If you are located in the European Union, you have certain data rights:

  • Right to Access: You have full access to your data at all times (it's on your device)
  • Right to Portability: Export features (Farm tier) allow you to transfer your data
  • Right to Erasure: You can delete all data via "Reset App" or uninstall
  • Data Controller: You are the data controller. We merely provide the tool.

11.2 CCPA (California Residents)

MycoHub does not sell personal information and meets the requirements of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
